may・mightを使った英文

may は許可「〜してもよい」、推量「〜かもしれない」などを表す助動詞です。might は may の過去形で、控えめに表現したい場合に may に代えてよく用います。

・may have + 過去分詞
例：She may have seen the movie.
「彼女はその映画を見たかもしれない。」

・may(might) as well 〜
例：You may as well leave now.
「君はもう出かけてもいいのではないか。」

・might as well 〜 as …
例：You might as well die as marry such a man.
「そんな男と結婚するくらいなら死んだ方がましだ。」

・may well 〜
例：It may well be true.
「それはたぶん本当だろう。」

・may possibly 〜
例：We may possibly win, but on the other hand we may well lose.
「私たちはひよっとすると勝つかもしれないが、たぶん負けるだろう。」

・It may be that 〜
例：It may be that he has missed the train.
「彼はその列車に乗り遅れたかもしれない。」

・come what may
例：Come what may, I will not break my word.
「どんなことがあろうと約束は破りません。」

・be that as it may
例：Be that as it may, he had his suspicions.
「何はともあれ、彼は疑いをもっていた。」

・as might have been expected
例：As might have been expected, he remained calm.
「さすがに彼は冷静だった。」
